Pula Youth Centre in Pula during July and August turned into a real film incubator a place where children, young people and future film professionals made their first steps in the seventh art.
Within the 72nd Pula Film Festival, two film workshops were held in the Center:
“La workshop” (30.6.–4.7.)
The workshop of the feature film for children and young people covered everything from a theoretical introduction to film production, working with cameras and equipment, to the creative process of creating short films. A special emphasis was placed on music production and the role of sound in the film, and the result a short film with an original musical theme premiered at the Arena on July 18. The workshop was led by members of the New Vodnjan Film Wave: Michele Bulešić, Teo Morosin, Marino Morosin and Eric Ušić.
“Paper, Scissors, Dinosaur” (7–11 July)
Under the direction of illustrator and animator Vibor Juhas, the youngest participants went through the entire process of creating an animated film: from story and character creation to stage recording, composing music and editing. The result of their work a short animated film was also premiered at the Arena on July 18th.
Pula PRO (13.–16.7.)
For older young people, the Center hosted a part of the Pula PRO program, intended for students and young professionals. In cooperation with the Academy of Dramatic Art from Zagreb, a “Student Program” was developed which provided an opportunity to learn from domestic and world experts and to present their own projects.
Cinema 15+ and the new movie “The Rest of the Day”
In August, the Center hosted rehearsals and auditions for a new film by Jakov Benčić, one of the leaders of Kino 15+, starring school-age children. The film will soon be able to be seen in Kino Valli through the Kino 15+ program.
This summer Pula Youth Centre was the place where film ideas were born, talents developed and works that will inspire new generations.🎬📽🎥🎬
